Summer Saturday
It's the first (and probably last) normal Saturday of the summer. They just finished dance and coding camp.
Dance camp was more challenging that I expected. Xilo was the only boy in a class with 17 other girls, although he was brave about it and enjoyed the week despite his nightly mild protests. Xifo was extreme in her bashing of dance camp. Initially she hated it. She hated the camp; she hated dance; she didn't want to go and was in tears. She was in a class that had danced most of their short lives, and were really good, which made it hard for Xifo since she was used to being the best. After a lot of back and forth though, it was obvious that improv was the part that she dreaded. She had no idea what to do with the freedom, and was embarassed by not having some kind of creative dance moves ready. It was paralyzing for her. I think though most people can relate. Mama addressed it and they consulted the teacher together, which seemed to resolve.
Improv dance according to your mood
Coding camp was a big hit. Less coding than playing, but I think they will go back to this camp. Let's just say that it was probably the best week of the summer, and one that will have a lasting impact on their lives.
